Trade and Business Development

The Council meets in the Trade and Business Development Sector to make decisions on policies and actions to be implemented by InterTradeIreland.

Functions/Objectives

InterTradeIreland exercises a valuable range of functions in the trade and business sector. Under the overall policy direction of the NSMC, InterTradeIreland works in close collaboration with the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment, Belfast, the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Dublin, and with the existing development agencies, North and South. It has a focus on promoting North South trade and business co-operation by building enterprise capability, competitiveness and developing networks. InterTradeIreland aims to add value to the work being carried out by the existing trade and business development agencies.
InterTradeIreland also has objectives to enhance enterprise competitiveness in a North/South context in areas such as skills availability, telecoms, information technology and electronic commerce by encouraging information share, joint marketing initiatives, joint research and development and other ventures as well as maximising the potential of e-business across the island.
InterTradeIreland is located in Newry. The Board of InterTradeIreland is chaired by Dr David Dobbin and the Vice Chair is Mr John Fitzgerald. The Chief Executive of InterTradeIreland is Mr Liam Nellis.
