The thirty-third North South Ministerial Council Aquaculture & Marine Meeting was held in Armagh on 15 May 2026.
The meeting was attended by Andrew Muir MLA, Minister for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, Aisling Reilly MLA, Junior Minister, The Executive Office, Joanne Bunting MLA, Junior Minister, The Executive Office, and Timmy Dooley TD, Minister of State at the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment.
The Council welcomed the report on the activities of Loughs Agency, in particular the ongoing conservation and protection efforts, environmental education and outreach programmes.
Ministers received a presentation from Loughs Agency on Atlantic salmon stocks, and the Agency’s ongoing work to improve the efficacy of the monitoring procedures used to assess attainment of salmon conservation limits.
Ministers also received a presentation from the Agency on the implementation of measures to address climate change and biodiversity loss in the Foyle and Carlingford catchments.
