North South Ministerial Council Twenty Seventh Plenary Meeting 8 April 2024

The twenty-seventh Plenary meeting of the North South Ministerial Council (NSMC) was held at the NSMC Joint Secretariat Offices, Armagh earlier today.

The Northern Ireland Executive hosted the meeting which was jointly chaired by First Minister, Michelle O’Neill MLA and deputy First Minister, Emma Little-Pengelly MLA. The Government of Ireland was led by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar TD.

Ministers discussed business and trade matters, received updates on the NSMC meetings which had taken place since the previous Plenary meeting and noted the work taken forward across the NSMC sectors, including the work of the North South Bodies. 

The NSMC welcomed the positive developments in delivery of the commitments under New Decade, New Approach and agreed that both administrations will continue to work together, including through the NSMC, on key infrastructure projects, which will deliver social, environmental and economic benefits to improve the lives of people across the island. 

The NSMC also welcomed into post the newly appointed and reappointed Chief Executive Officers and Board Members of the North South Bodies.
